In July and August 2024, the Kaiowá Guarani communities and reclaimed areas in the Panambi – Lago Rica Indigenous Land, in the territories occupied by the
state of Mato Grosso do Sul, have suffered armed attacks at the behest of
big landowners. Dozens of people have been seriously injured. The National
Force was present, but allowed the attacks against the indigenous community to continue.
The Ministry of Indigenous Peoples sent a representative, who
requested that the victims of the massacre be more peaceful.
Although the federal government of Lula and his Workers’ Party
claims to defend the struggle of indigenous peoples, it invests much more in
agribusiness and other projects that threaten their lands and way of life, than in the defense of these territories.
Whether under right-wing or left-wing governments, the massacre continues.
Indigenous genocide is one of the pillars of the Brazilian state. Since
its creation. The state depends on continuous economic growth and therefore
must annihilate the lives and cultures of the indigenous people who protect the
forests, so that it can exploit their lands and resources. No
government is going to change that.
If indigenous peoples are to live, the state must die.
Let’s join forces to burn the institutions that set fire to the forest. Join the anti-colonial movements and counterattack. Before it’s even later.
